Diabetic Ice Cream
English Lakes Ice Cream produce a range of ice cream specially developed for diabetics. While our diabetic ice cream is not intended to be an absolute alternative to regular ice cream, it has been prepared to a recipe which is more suitable for people with diabetes. We have lowered the fat content from around 11% to 5% and replaced the sugar component with fructose rather than using artificial sweetners. Fructose is a natural sugar found in fruit among other things, and is often recommended for diabetics because it has a very low glycemic index (GI).
